Remedial Shiatsu / Acupressure Treatments
Our Shiatsu / Acupressure treatments are directed towards remedial purposes of injury, long held muscle tension or mobility recovery.
Shiatsu also known as acupressure is a deeply relaxing treatment that focuses on re balancing the flow of energy known as Qi ( Chi ) within your body. It is a Japanese massage based on Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy of manipulating the meridian system ( historical lines of energy / Chi ) to create harmony between the body its organs and mind.
A typical treatment will incorporate the stretching and mobilization of the body and limbs as well as the application of relaxed pressure applied to the whole body and specific areas of tension or injury.
Two Shiatsu treatment formats are available.
* Therapeutic Shiatsu for relaxing the clients nervous system and calm the mind is typically 40 mins.
* Remedial Shiatsu treatments to assist in injury or recovery type symptoms that are able to incorporate oriental services ( TCM based ) along with stretch therapy techniques to assist a persons recovery is typically 60 mins minimum.
Two pictures shown on this page are Shiatsu being applied to the client lying on the stomach or prone position. This position is deeply relaxing and grounding for the person, the Shiatsu practitioner will maintain a relaxed posture that will be maintained at all times with the use of palms, fingers and sometimes elbows even knees.
It is not a pressing sensation, we are wanting to achieve, more a sinking into sensation to reach deeper levels of the acu points and tcm meridian energetic pathways as well as the muscular structure of the body.
The other diagram is a sample of a acu point location that is able to be incorporated in the treatment. The point is known as LI4 or Large Intestine four in ( tcm ), It is a extremely powerful point to use for many applications and can be incorporated in the initial stages of a Shiatsu treatment to assist in settling the client.
Being a Japanese form of massage the treatment is carried out on a futon on the floor with clothing worn, so no need to disrobe. The start of your Shiatsu treatment may consist of a short consultation which will include questions, client observations, as well as tongue and abdomen examinations. These preliminary consultations and observations give the shiatsu practitioner an indication as to what if any issues need to be attended to.
Life style recommendations will often be discussed to assist the client with overall well being.

Hi Denis,
I had never tried Shiatsu before but now intend to make treatments with Denis a regular part of my health plan. I am more used to firm, deep tissue style massage but the Shiatsu treatment that I had with you combined gentleness and strength in a way that allowed me to release both physically and energetically. I left feeling physically relaxed but mentally alert. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I will be booking in again asap - just need to get uni and a short trip out of the way!
Thanks Denis
